About us

Afrikans On The Rise is an educational organization that began in Brooklyn, now based in Queens, New York, dedicated to enriching minds with cultural and historical knowledge. Inspired by lectures from prominent historians, we strive to empower individuals with a solid Afrikan future. Our commitment to quality education and community upliftment drives everything we do.

Our Inspiration

Afrikans On The Rise began over 40 years ago after my  husband and I attended the ASCAC (Association for the Study of Afrikan Classical Civilization) lecture series in Harlem, NY. Some of the great historians who lectured at these meetings included, Dr John Henrik Clarke, Dr Ben Jochannon, Amos Wilson, Niam Akbar, Asa Hilliard, Ivan Van Sertima and many more. This series inspired me to want to teach others what we were learning. Each lecture invigorated us to want to know more and to share our learning.

Our Core Values

The core values received at the lectures came from our learning about the Kemetic Civilization in ancient Egypt (Kemet). We learned The Divine Principles of MAAT. We used those principles to guide us as we began classes. Those principle include: Truth, Justice, Reciprocity, Righteousness, Harmony, Order and Balance.

Our Vision for the Community

Though we are based in Queens, NY, we use the zoom conference platform to reach scholars all throughout the disapora. Our vision is to enhance and enrich the minds of Young Kings and Young Kandakes to move in confidence with their personal and cultural knowledge of the past and present, and the ability to create a solid Afrikan future.
